Ernest Wilford likely to be cut
Theres a little tidbit in a story from Barry Jackson and its not very surprising…
The Dolphins have decided not to try to salvage the Ernest Wilford project — he is expected to be cut (or, much less likely, traded) in February. – - [Miami Herald]
As said before its not very surprising he failed to show up at practice and lost his starting job and only had one catch all year. When you get beat by 3 undrafted rookies for a job you aren’t doing very well for your self. At least Brandon London can play special teams and if you want to be the 4th WR on the roster you have to do something other than just be a WR.
Wilford shouldn’t cost much against the cap about $4.5 million or less so it won’t be that big of a deal to cut him. Some other cuts could be made to make up that cap space, even though the Dolphins are top 10 in cap space available.
This frees up space for another WR possibly in the draft or free agency. More than likely it will be a prototype WR like Wilford but one that actually will make a difference on this team.
