No Dolphins on the All Pro Team
Well unfortunately no Dolphins were named to the All Pro team, I really have no problem with that. But what I do have a problem with is how the voting went…
Quarterback
Peyton Manning, Indianapolis, 28; Drew Brees, New Orleans, 10; Philip Rivers, San Diego, 9; Chad Pennington, Miami, 2; Kurt Warner, Arizona, 1.
Chad Pennington got 2 votes but I understand that, Brees, Manning and Rivers all had statistically better seasons then Chad and by no meaning is the All Pro team a measure of how much leadership you put in your team.
But now, This is where I don’t understand what the hell the voters were thinking…
Tackles
Jordan Gross, Carolina, 34; Michael Roos, Tennessee, 32; Ryan Clady, Denver, 14; David Stewart, Tennessee, 3; Walter Jones, Seattle, 3; Jason Peters, Buffalo, 3; David Diehl, NY Giants, 3; Joe Thomas, Cleveland, 3; Chris Samuels, Washington, 2; Jon Runyan, Philadelphia, 1; Levi Brown, Arizona, 1; Ryan Harris, Denver, 1.
Not one single vote for Jake Long? But 3 votes for Peters? Really… Peters looked horrible this season, He looked more like a rookie than Long, He did get better at season end but even that he sat out 2 games at the end, as well as another game. So a player who didn’t even play 3 of their teams games gets more votes that a player who did. Also look at this monumental ammount of sacks Peters allowed 11.5, Long gave up 2.5 sacks all season long. And while his partner in crime Justin Smiley was injured he didn’t allow any sacks, that shows it was all his ability. Thats just a real laugher that Peters gets 3 votes…
But what really stands out in my mind is that some person thinks Smiley deserves recognition but not long?
Steve Hutchinson, Minnesota, 40; Chris Snee, NY Giants, 32; Kris Dielman, San Diego, 10; Alan Faneca, NY Jets, 7; Logan Mankins, New England, 4; Leonard Davis, Dallas, 2; Travelle Wharton, Carolina, 2; Harvey Dahl, Atlanta, 1; Ben Grubbs, Baltimore, 1; Justin Smiley, Miami, 1.
I love Smiley but giving him recognition and not Long, just isn’t right but its cool Smiley got a vote.
Among others that got votes for the All Pro team were Will Allen (although I feel Goodman deserved the vote more) and Joey Porter.
Cornerbacks
Nnamdi Asomugha, Oakland, 32; Cortland Finnegan, Tennessee, 31; Charles Woodson, Green Bay, 17; Antoine Winfield, Minnesota, 10; Asante Samuel, Philadelphia, 3; Darrelle Revis, NY Jets, 2; Champ Bailey, Denver, 1; Ronde Barber, Tampa Bay, 1; Corey Webster, NY Giants 1; Will Allen, Miami, 1; Terence Newman, Dallas, 1.
Outside Linebackers
DeMarcus Ware, Dallas, 45; James Harrison, Pittsburgh, 38; Joey Porter, Miami, 13; Terrell Suggs, Baltimore, 2; LaMarr Woodley, Pittsburgh 1; Derrick Brooks, Tampa Bay, 1.
It was a nice year the Dolphins too bad nobody made it.
